At Topflite Loft Conversions we know that when planning a loft conversion you can be left with lots of questions. As part of our service we will work with you to answer any questions you may have. But, in the meantime here are some answers to your most frequently asked questions.
Do I have to get planning permission?
You don’t need planning permission if your home isn’t listed or in a conservation area. If there are any covenants on your building or you live in a flat then you may need to seek planning permission. Most properties in the UK will not need planning permission for a loft conversion.
What about building regulations?
You will need to ensure that building regulations are adhered to. This is something that we will ensure we comply with.
Will I need a dormer?
You won’t always need a dormer. It will depend on your budget and whether you actually want one.
Will I require a new boiler?
If you currently don’t have a combi-boiler and still have a water tank then you will need to install a new boiler. A loft conversion will require the removal of your water tank. Why not speak to us to see what your options are?
What lighting will I require?
This will depend on your own tastes entirely. Lighting in the roof is usually something that most people will go for, but it all depends on how many roof lights you want. Usually we suggest 10% of your floor space.
How many veluxes do I need?
If you opt for velux windows then it will depend again on your own personal taste. We can help to advise you on what is best and how much natural light you would like.
